Sunquest and mTuitive Integrate Sunquest CoPathPlus Anatomic Pathology Software and mTuitive xPert for Pathology
Publish Date : 1/22/2008 3:57:00 AM   Source : Science and Technology News Onlypunjab.com

Sunquest Information Systems, Inc., a market leader in laboratory information systems, and mTuitive, Inc., today announced the completed product integration between the Sunquest CoPathPlus anatomic pathology system with the mTuitive xPert for Pathology software. The new add-on module to Sunquest CoPathPlus will provide users with seamless integration to a state-of-the-art, structured data capture, synoptic reporting, and expert rules system based on the College of American Pathologists Cancer Protocols and Checklists. It includes over 70 pre-built electronic templates to effectively reduce errors, help standardize on best operational practices, and assist with regulatory compliances. The new module is available immediately and works with Sunquest CoPathPlus v2.5 or higher.

Sunquests integration of CoPathPlus with mTuitives xPert for Pathology represents the biggest advance in pathology reporting since the invention of the typewriter, said Dr. Mark Tuthill, Henry Ford Health Systems, a beta tester for the new integration module. The ability to use CoPathPlus to directly access xPert through our normal workflow increases our efficiency and reduces our transcription requirements dramatically.

The mTuitive and Sunquest integration has two major impacts for hospitals. First, pathology departments maintain compliance with current and future Commission on Cancer requirements and save money through reduction in transcription expense, said John Murphy, CEO of mTuitive. Second, accurate diagnostic data is structured electronically. The structured data can then be shared between applications to help clinicians begin automation of disease staging and treatment protocol planning and can be easily mined for research purposes.

Improving productivity through better workflow and reducing redundant processes is one of the most effective ways we help our customers achieve their goals, said Mike Snow, Chief Technology Officer of Sunquest Information Systems, Inc. This is accomplished through the development of new technologies and product features, but also through tighter integration between our existing products and functions. mTuitives xPert for Pathology system is the leading technology for structured data capture and synoptic reporting and will provide tremendous benefits to our customers through its integration with Sunquest CoPathPlus.

Sunquest Integrates LIS, Anatomic Pathology, and Synoptic Reporting for Improved Workflow

Sunquest is actively enhancing its CoPathPlus anatomic pathology system with numerous new feature enhancements that are tightly integrated with its award-winning Sunquest Laboratory Information System in order to increase productivity and improve workflow for its customers. This new integration with mTuitive will give Sunquest CoPathPlus users an industry-first seamless integration solution between LIS, anatomic pathology, and synoptic reporting.

College of American Pathologists Cancer Protocols

Cancer Centers who maintain accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACS CoC) are required to meet minimum data reporting standards for the classification of malignant tumors. The College of American Pathologists (CAP) developed cancer protocols and checklists to assist pathology and oncology departments in meeting the ACS CoC standards. SNOMED® International, a Division of the CAP, developed the SNOMED CT encoded versions of these checklists.

About mTuitive xPert Applications
