Belden Unveils NEMA-Rated, ROHS Compliant WiFi Enclosures To Secure XtraThin Wireless Solution Access Points
Publish Date : 1/23/2008 3:31:00 AM Source : Technology News Onlypunjab.com
Belden, a world leader in the development of signal transmission solutions for wired and wireless enterprise networks, as well as industrial, broadcast, residential and security markets, announces the launch of Indoor and Outdoor WiFi enclosures designed to provide optimum security for the remote placement of the Belden Wireless Solution's XtraThin™ Access Points (APs). The compact, aesthetically pleasing enclosures are robustly constructed to fully comply with the physical or climate-related requirements of indoor or outdoor AP installations.
The new NEMA-rated, RoHS compliant enclosures offer an ideal security complement for Belden Wireless Solution's APs by providing protection against tampering, theft and environmental damage to the wireless APs installed in remote locations, outdoor areas, or indoor sites where they may be exposed to physical damage - such as in gymnasiums or K-12 educational facilities.
Belden's dual-radio and four-radio XtraThin Access Points are a key element of the Belden Wireless Solution, an innovative Edge Architecture/Channel Blanket WLAN system that utilizes smart 8-, 12- or 24-port Switches and "thin," radio-like APs. The Belden Wireless Solution is unique in its ability to help users achieve a guaranteed and predictable rate of connection and service, and a secure, zero-latency, interference-free WLAN.
The easy-to-install Indoor and Outdoor WiFi Enclosures include:
- Belden Part No. BWIE-100 - a 14 x 10 x 4-inch Indoor Enclosure constructed of UV-stabilized ABS. The weatherproof enclosure is NEMA Type 3R/IP42 rated and is ROHS compliant. In addition to use in areas where APs are susceptible to physical damage, the unit's compact size makes it ideal for use where space is limited, such as in equipment closets, offices and mobile wireless applications.
- Belden Part No. BWOE-100 - a 14 x 12 x 7-inch Outdoor Enclosure constructed of molded fiberglass reinforced polyester with stainless steel quick-release latches and hardware. The RoHS compliant, weatherproof cabinet is rated NEMA Type 3R/IP42 and includes a Category 5e Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) interface. This unit is well-suited for use out-of-doors, as well as in demanding high-temperature or corrosive environments.
About the Belden Wireless Solution The Belden Wireless Solution features a distinctive architecture that is fundamentally different from that of standard WLANs, which use cell-based technologies requiring complex RF Cell Planning to avoid co-channel interference. Belden's Wireless Solution is a Layer-2 Edge solution with a unique Channel Blanket topology to allow each radio channel to be used everywhere, at every access point, thereby creating blankets of continuous wireless coverage with no roaming latency or co-channel interference problems. High throughput is achieved even when cell traffic is high and full compliance with IEEE 802.11a/b/g protocol and security standards is maintained.
About Belden Belden is a leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of signal transmission solutions for data networking and a wide range of specialty electronics markets including entertainment, industrial, building management and aerospace applications. Belden has manufacturing facilities in North America, Asia and Europe as well as distribution centers in the U.S., Canada, Singapore, Australia and The Netherlands. A majority of Belden's manufacturing, engineering and support functions are registered to the International Organization for Standardization. |
