World Champion 1990 Mercedes-Benz Race Car, One of Only Five in the World, to be Auctioned Next Week
Publish Date : 1/19/2008 8:24:00 AM Source : Sports News Onlypunjab.com
A significant piece of Mercedes-Benz racing history, the rare 1990 Sauber-Mercedes C-11, will be auctioned to the highest bidder on January 29, 2008 in Miami at the law firm of Hunton & Williams LLP. The vintage car was recently restored by Rocketsports, Inc., one of the racing world’s leaders in engine design and construction, and is racetrack ready.
The race car is one of only five C-11’s in the world built by Mercedes-Benz and famed Swiss racing auto designer Peter Sauber. The car’s performance during the 1990 and 1991 racing seasons qualifies it as the most successful in its racing class. Driven by notable drivers in historic racing venues throughout Europe and the United States, the C-11 captured eight victories and the overall Sports Car World Championship title in the early 1990s. Additional information and photos of the car are available at http://www.hunton.com/Resources/Sites/general.aspx?id=26.
Interested bidders must submit a qualified competing bid of at least US $2.125 million before 5:00 pm EST on January 24, 2008 with a refundable, US $200,000 deposit. The auction will take place on January 29 at 2 pm EST at the law offices of Hunton & Williams, 1111 Brickell Ave., Miami, Fla. 33131. Bidding will commence with the minimum initial bid of at least US $2.125 million and then in increments of no less than US $25,000. Bidders who submit a qualified bid can participate in person or by phone. For more information on submitting a qualified bid, please contact Hunton & Williams attorney Andrew Kamensky at (305) 810-2500.
The car is available for viewing at Rocketsports’ racing facility at 3400 West Rd., East Lansing, Michigan 48823. Contact Paul Gentilozzi at (517) 337-2600 Ext. 104 to arrange an appointment.
