MobileAccess, a leading global provider of enterprise wireless solutions, today announced that its Universal Wireless Network has been deployed in more than 150 leading medical facilities nationwide, providing more than 75 million square feet of total wireless coverage. Fueled by an extensive ecosystem of channel and technology partners, MobileAccess delivers a cutting-edge infrastructure solution that can be rapidly and cost-effectively deployed to enable a variety of wireless applications. MobileAccess will showcase its support for medical applications operating over a variety of wireless technologies, including Telemetry (WMTS), Wi-Fi and Mobile WiMAX, in Booth #1829.
“Communication is a fundamental aspect of decision making and is essential for enhancing the productivity, accuracy and quality of patient care,” said Cathy Zatloukal, president and CEO of MobileAccess. “We have long understood the power of a universal wireless infrastructure to transform care giving and have been ahead of the curve in developing a scalable, future-proof architecture that is able to meet the diverse needs of the healthcare market. Now, through strong partnerships and advanced technology, MobileAccess has become a cornerstone for the wireless hospital.”
Clinicians, patients and visitors expect seamless access to wireless devices and applications throughout hospital facilities. For hospital IT teams, this necessity translates into a clear mandate for deploying proven technology that meets existing needs and provides a painless migration path to future requirements. As a result, MobileAccess and its partners are at the core of a wide array of enterprise-wide deployments for major hospitals including:
Sparrow Health System in Lansing, Michigan
To ensure the accessibility, reliability and security of its wireless infrastructure, Sparrow Health System has commenced installation of Meru Networks wireless LAN technology and the MobileAccess Universal Wireless Network throughout the recently built West Tower, a state-of-the-art 10 story, 450,000 square feet facility. The system is designed for future wireless VoIP applications and will support a variety of WLAN applications including a pager system that is now live.
Memorial Hospital North in Colorado Springs, Colorado
Memorial Hospital North, which opened in April 2007, is the first to deploy GE Healthcare’s ApexPro FH Telemetry System on CARESCAPE Enterprise Access. Powered by MobileAccess and its Wire-it-Once™ infrastructure, CARESCAPE Enterprise Access enables the hospital to quickly adapt to emerging wireless requirements and expansions without disrupting operations or interrupting services. The solution provides reliable performance for Telemetry, cellular phone service, public safety communications and radio frequency identification (RFID) over a single, integrated, wireless platform that enables critical patient data to be securely coordinated, managed and distributed without the communications failures, interference or interruptions associated with un-integrated systems.
Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, California
Seeking a multi-service infrastructure to support voice and data communications over a variety of wireless technologies including cellular, Wi-Fi and Telemetry (WMTS), Hoag opted to work with Sprint (NYSE:S) and MobileAccess for the installation of a multi-service wireless network that provides ubiquitous coverage throughout the 511-bed acute care hospital. Sprint leverages the MobileAccess Universal Wireless Network to provide Hoag Memorial with pervasive, multi-service, in-building and campus-wide wireless coverage for their current and future mobile applications. The MobileAccess platform offers reliable, facility-wide access to a full range of wireless offerings available on the Sprint National Network and Nextel National Network.
Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida
To deliver pervasive coverage for all major wireless operators and to ensure support for cellular voice and data services, including more than 8,000 internal pagers, 1,100 Blackberry devices and uncounted visitor cell phones, Florida Hospital selected the MobileAccess Universal Wireless Network for three hospital sites. With this flexible system in place at three of the seven facilities so far, Florida Hospital can readily add new wireless services and expand its coverage areas as necessary. Florida Hospital is the largest non-profit Protestant hospital in the country with 16,000 staff and more than 2,000 beds.
