ElectionSpeak.com Puts Voters in Charge of Evaluating, Tracking the Truth in 2008 Presidential Platforms
Publish Date : 1/24/2008 4:49:00 AM   Source : Application Development News

With Super Tuesday just around the corner, voters will continue to feel a barrage of messaging launched from the many presidential platforms. And, in today's media-heavy landscape, it is increasingly difficult to sort through all of the soundbites and "campaign speak" to find out where candidates stand on key election issues--and even harder to know where they've wavered or done a complete 180 on the important topics of the day. To help the voting public keep track of campaign flip-flopping, ElectionSpeak has created an online community forum (www.electionspeak.com) for individuals to post videos of candidates making contradictory statements on issues.

"It's surprising when you actually filter through all the media clips to find out how often politicians contradict themselves on important issues--saying one thing to one audience one day and then something else to another audience on a different day," said Paul Banas, founder of ElectionSpeak.com. "ElectionSpeak.com provides a forum for voters to shed light on these contradictions and help keep politicians honest."

By providing online tools for people to compare what the candidates are saying to different audiences, ElectionSpeak.com empowers voters to act as watchdogs and help inform the general voting public. Individual campaign committees can also use ElectionSpeak.com as a forum to point out opposing candidates' double-speak--as well as offer context for their own candidate's flip-flopping on the issues.

Be an Agent for Change--Join the Video Patrol
In addition to suggesting videos found on websites like YouTube, individuals can register for free to join the ElectionSpeak Video Patrol and shoot their own videos to upload to the site. Video Patrol members are invited to capture videos of candidates speaking at local political meetings, town halls, and other forums--and then upload the footage to the site along with their commentary. By joining the ElectionSpeak Video Patrol, individuals have an opportunity to help directly inform other voters and impact the election.

Additional highlights on ElectionSpeak.com include:
Gotcha Videos--people can suggest and upload "gotcha" videos of candidates caught in embarrassing moments, saying or doing things they wish they hadn't done in public and trying to backpedal or retract statements. Video Patrol members are encouraged to upload the gotcha moments captured at their local political forums.

Commentary--individuals and campaign committees can post comments to start discussions about each video.

Sort by Candidate, Date or Issue--videos can be sorted by candidate, upload date or issue, depending on the interest of the viewer.

Find out where the candidates stand (or don't stand) on the issues at www.electionspeak.com.

The company is based in San Francisco, Calif.
