Ricavision International, Inc., leaders in the convergence of information systems and consumer electronics today announced the launch of the company’s VAVE100 Windows SideShow Universal Remote Control. The launch comes as a next evolution in the company’s deployment of devices that harness the potential of Windows SideShow, a feature of PCs running Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise and Windows Vista Ultimate, to provide tech-savvy enthusiasts with ways to enhance their daily lives.
The exciting thing about the VAVE100 is that it truly captures the potential of what Windows SideShow can offer people,” said Alicia Mellor, Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Ricavision. “The possibilities for home and personal entertainment are seemingly endless, and as a leader providing innovations in Windows Media Center-based products that is exactly what Ricavision wants to offer its customers.”
The VAVE100 features cutting-edge Media Center capability and premier Windows SideShow technology just like the company’s previously-introduced RICA100 remote control. They can access Media Center on premium versions of -Windows Vista-based PCs and easily play their favorite music, show pictures or recorded TV located in the Windows Media Center. But the VAVE100 takes that technology a step further by wirelessly distributing digital access to 20 devices through infrared technology. The remote’s universal functionality features a built-in database of over 1500 worldwide brand names for easy installation using the graphical user interface on the 2.4 inch QVGA color LCD display with 240 x 320 resolution. VAVE100’s user experience is heightened through the addition of a learning feature, and the remote also allows for easy one-button set-up via a user-definable macro function.
“Ricavision has done a great job showcasing the Windows SideShow technology through its cutting edge engineering and design efforts,” said Rob Copeland, General Manager of Windows Hardware Ecosystem at Microsoft. “Microsoft is pleased to work with Ricavision to extend users’ connectivity to entertainment and activities they enjoy through Windows SideShow technology and the VAVE product line.”
Additionally, the VAVE100 lets the user control their Windows SideShow features remotely using Class 1 Bluetooth technology that allows a range of up to 100 meters. Users can customize their Windows SideShow functions utilizing a number of compatible gadgets found in their Windows Vista Control Panel, on the Windows Live Gallery at gallery.live.com, or online in the Ricavision.com Gadget Bank, and use the VAVE100 to display information, perform tasks, or interact with software without having to be in front of their Windows Vista-based computer. Depending on which gadgets they choose to configure, consumers can have quick access to their music library, picture library, full-body email, stock quotes, weather, and can even stream live high-quality audio using Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP).
“Ricavision is proud to have Primax Electronics Ltd., Accton Technology Corp. and Winbond as major partners on the VAVE100 project, it took almost a year of hard work to have VAVE100 available worldwide.” said Max Li, CEO of Ricavision “You have to believe of what you are doing to bring the max. of energy to the business with your partners.”
