Emma Launches Tree Replanting Initiative
Publish Date : 1/10/2008 8:19:00 AM   Source : Advertising and Business News Onlypunjab.com

Emma®, the email marketing and communications service, announced that it will plant five trees for each new customer who chooses Emma to power their email newsletters and campaigns.

Through a partnership with the reforestation non-profit Plant-It 2020, Emma and its growing customer base will help strengthen non-harvest forests across the U.S. And the program is simple: an organization signs up with Emma, and Emma donates enough money to have five trees planted in their honor. With nearly 300 companies, non-profits and agencies joining Emma each month, the email marketing company hopes to sponsor the planting of at least 15,000 trees this year in designated forests around the U.S. and abroad. In the program's first month alone, nearly 1000 new trees have been donated and will be planted in Oregon.

"By moving their newsletters and campaigns from print to email, our customers are already doing something nice for the environment," says Suzanne Norman, Emma's Director of Community Relations. "Now, in addition to sparing trees, they can actually help us plant some, too. Basically, we win, our customers win, and the environment wins. If only there were some sort of phrase to describe a situation in which multiple 'wins' occur. Oh well."

"It is refreshing to have a tree-planting partner like Emma," says Michael Thau, Executive Director of Plant-It 2020. "They came to us with a strong, genuine interest in doing good for the world rather than simply providing positive publicity for themselves. Their good intentions led them to select a reforestation organization that plants indigenous trees protected by contract from future logging. We thank Emma for making a difference!"

Emma's tree-planting efforts began in the spring of 2007 with a quirky campaign called Vote for Trees (www.votefortrees.com), which asked people to show their support for our tall and leafy friends by casting a YES vote. For each yes vote cast up to 5,000 - Emma would plant a tree. And we did.

About Plant-It 2020

Plant-It 2020 is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit foundation dedicated to properly planting, maintaining and protecting as many indigenous trees as possible worldwide. In addition to replenishing cities and forests, Plant-It 2020 also periodically provides educational workshops on forestry issues to thousands of children. Founded by the late Singer John Denver in 1992, their reforestation projects in many countries often directly help humanity by increasing crop production, fresh water availability and fuel-wood via dropped branches.
