Terrell Owens Begins His Second Season With the Cowboys
Publish Date : 10/10/2007 11:08:00 PM   Source : Sports News Onlypunjab.com

Terrel Owens and the rest of the Dallas Cowboys Football club’s season is underway and NFL fans everywhere are gearing up for week two of the action. Regardless of their teams performance in the first week fans remain optimistic that their team will have a stellar season.

Dallas Cowboys fans are excited after their team’s week one win and are hoping for the same this weekend. After a rough end to the 2006 season which saw the Cowboys lose a heart breaker to the Seattle Seahawks in the last minute of the first round of the play-offs, following a botched field goal hold by quarterback Tony Romo, the Dallas Cowboys and their fans are looking for a brighter, uneventful year ahead.

The end of the 2006 season also marked the end for Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells. As the new season of football begins the Dallas Cowboys will take to the field with a quarterback, who has something to prove, a new head coach at the helm and wide receiver Terrell Owens who wants to show he belongs. Owens was born in Alexander City, Alabama and played his college ball at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga, where he participated in basketball track and football. He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft. There he played alongside his idol, Jerry Rice.

In 2004 Owens became a Philadelphia Eagle and then on March 18, 2006, four days after being released from the Eagles, Jerry Jones announced that the Dallas Cowboys had signed him for three years. Due to Owens demonstrated ability for controversy, which was witnessed with both of his former teams, his signing was a hotly debated subject with Dallas Cowboys fans.

Owens had a strong first season with the Cowboys, despite suffering an injury to his finger early in the season. An injured tendon to the same finger in a later game had doctors recommending season-ending surgery. Despite this Owens elected to risk permanent damage to his finger and continued to play, electing for post season surgery. Despite his injury and other incidents in the year Owens led the league in regular season touchdowns. Following the season he had surgeries to repair the injured right, ring finger. In the first game of the 2007 season, the Dallas Cowboys were home to the NY Giants.

Terrell Owens had a stellar game catching three passes for a total of 87 yards, averaging 29 yards a reception. He had two touchdowns in the Cowboys 45 to 35 win over the Giants. Along with Tony Romo, and new Dallas Cowboys head coach, Wade Phillips, Terrell Owens has something to prove. In the first game of the season all of them showed they have what it takes to succeed.
