The Vishay VBUS051BD-HD1 is the industry’s first ESD single-line protection diode to provide a low 1.5-pF capacitance in the new LLP1006 package. With a compact 0.6-mm by 1.0-mm footprint and an extremely low profile of 0.38 mm, the VBUS051BD-HD1 is designed to save board space and provide ESD protection in portable electronics for mobile computing, mobile communication, consumer, industrial, and medical applications. Its new compact LLP package uses an environmentally friendly “green” molding compound.

The new device features a low maximum leakage current of 0.1 microamp at 5 V, and a maximum clamping voltage of 15 V at 3 A. Breakthrough voltage ratings for the VBUS051BD-HD1 are 8.7 V (maximum) and 7.9 V (typical) at 1 mA.

The VBUS051BD-HD1 provides transient protection for one data line as per IEC 61000-4-2 (ESD) at +/-15 kV (contact discharge). In accordance with IEC 61000-4-5 (lightning), the device provides a peak pulse current of 3 A (tp = 8/20 microseconds). The diode is also compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.

The Vishay Sfernice P30L panel potentiometer features a high 2-W power rating, low temperature coefficient, and high operating torque. While standard panel potentiometers reach 100,000 cycles, the P30L offers a long life of 1 million cycles. For designers, this reduces the need for replacement parts, increasing reliability and lowering maintenance costs.

Featuring a fully sealed IP67 package with pure Sn terminals, the potentiometer is intended for industrial control panel, heavy-duty control, automotive and off-road control, and harsh environment applications in end products including trucks and tractors, machine tools, HVAC systems, welding machines, and military, agricultural, and water-resistant equipment.

With only a 19.7-mm diameter, the new P30L offers designers a compact alternative to other 2-W panel potentiometers. Its cermet element provides better stability than carbon elements, while its 2500-VRMS dielectric strength offers greater reliability and robustness. Custom shafts are available in accordance to drawings supplied by customers.

The new Vishay Sfernice device offers a high maximum operating torque of 4.25 oz. per inch, and an end stop torque of 99 oz. per inch. The potentiometer features four resistances values from 1 to 50 kilohms over a 44.7-V to 300-V working range, with a low 3 percent typical contact resistance variation. An operating temperature range of -40 to +100 degrees Celsius ensures reliable operation even in extreme environments.
