Robert Brandewie, former Public Sector Solutions group vice president for ActivIdentity Corp. and former director of the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC), has joined Telos® Corporation as senior vice president of Identity and Security Solutions. In his new position, Brandewie will direct the company’s efforts in assisting government organizations in effectively meeting increased security challenges with innovative services and software solutions.
“Robbie’s previous professional experience and leadership skills will be great assets to the Telos identity management team,” said John Wood, Telos’ chairman and CEO. “His expertise makes him well qualified to lead Telos’ efforts in the area of identity and security solutions.”
In his 32 years at DMDC, Brandewie was responsible for the management of a dozen major operational programs. He was an architect of the Defense Dept.’s Common Access Smart Card (CAC) system, and was responsible for the oversight of the largest and most comprehensive automated personnel database in the department.
“My experience managing large-scale, complex government projects such as the CAC program will help Telos deliver excellent service for its government clients,” said Brandewie. “This past knowledge can be leveraged to assist Telos’ customers as they plan their identity management initiatives.”
Brandewie has a B.A. in psychology from the University of Connecticut and an M.A. in administrative sciences from Yale University. In 2006, Brandewie received the Presidential Rank Award of Distinguished Executive. He has twice been awarded the Presidential Rank Award of Meritorious Executive, in 1997 and 2002, has three times been the recipient of the Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service and was awarded the Secretary of Defense Exceptional Civilian Service Award. He was selected for the Outstanding Smart Card Achievement Leadership Award for 2005 and as one of the Fed 100 in 2004, an award based on influencing the course of federal information technology.
