Convergin Launches SCIM 2.0 Enabling Telco-level Mash-ups Combining Web, IMS, and Legacy SS7 Services
Publish Date : 2/25/2008 6:27:00 AM Source : American Local News Onlypunjab.com
Convergin, the leading provider of service interaction and service mediation solutions, announced today its SCIM 2.0 offering integrated with any J2EE JSR 116/289 compliant service delivery platform. Convergin’s SCIM 2.0, based on its Accolade WCS platform, utilizes a Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) SIP Server environment running on Java Specification Request (JSR) 116 or JSR 289 to allow operators to interact with Web Services, and expose the service orchestration capabilities towards the business logic handling by the SOA service bus.
Convergin Accolade is the first SCIM to allow service providers to extend service delivery platforms beyond IP multimedia networks to their legacy networks and their mass subscriber base. It coordinates and unifies the orchestration and interaction of services from various application servers. With SCIM 2.0, the Accolade WCS now extends the service orchestration to incorporate telecom web services and business logic into the service composition process.
Support for the SIP Servlet programming model has been rapidly gaining traction as many major vendors have announced support for JSR 116/289 by their application servers, including BEA, IBM, Oracle, Sun, and Ericsson. Convergin’s Accolade WCS SCIM is fully compliant with Java SIP Servlet API releases JSR 116 and JSR 289 making it the only SCIM to extend the SIP Servlet programming model to Legacy/SS7 interfaces. By adding native and service independent support for SS7/SIGTRAN based TCAP and IN interfaces to the Application Server Service Logic Execution Environment (SLEE), operators can take advantage of the latest open standards for SIP application development using servlets, and effortlessly extend the Accolade’s service orchestration and mediation capabilities towards any customized application or protocol level requirement.
“There is a clear market need to blend services and to open the network services layer to SOA and Web 2.0 alongside existing services, while servicing both the new IMS multimedia capable networks and the existing legacy networks,” said Dr. Ayal Itzkovitz, CEO of Convergin, “Convergin’s SCIM 2.0 is the critical piece in an SDP offering, going beyond pure IMS, allowing the introduction of SDPs today without the need to deploy a complete IMS core.”
