Well, this is absolutely the granddaddy of them all when it comes to Tarot Cards that are just so completely misunderstood. Yes, death has really taken more than just a holiday with this card. It's taken a bum rap and it's about time that somebody set the record straight before all the lunatics in the asylum start running the place. This article is going to give you the straight scoop as far as what the Death card REALLY means. Hopefully, this will set the record straight once and for all...though I highly doubt it.
Talk an outsider, or even somebody who is brand new to reading Tarot Cards and ask them what the Death card means and they'll immediately say, "That somebody is going to die." Heck, doesn't matter if the card is reversed, right side up or what. Pull that card and you might as well start calling the mortician. Well, it doesn't work that way...not even close.
In its normal key, Death simply indicates change, or transition. Something in your life is going through a great change, maybe even for the better. The key is to be able to let go of the past and embrace what is about to come. If you hang onto what is behind you, you just may miss out on many opportunities that lie in front of you. This card is telling you that you shouldn't be afraid to try something new, that experience can be the greatest thing.
In reverse key, this card simply means that the changes that are about to come are more in limbo. There are things happening that are physically preventing you from taking the action that you want to take. The key is to not let this get to you. You have to come to terms with these obstacles and realize that nothing is going to change in your life unless you make it happen. Also, even though things appear to be at a standstill, you must keep your mind active and always try to think of new ways to get around the problem. Eventually, you will find the right time to move ahead.
They key here is to understand that this card has nothing to do with death. How that ever got started is beyond me. It simply means that change is upon you. If you understand that much, you'll have a lot easier time dealing with this card when it comes up in a reading.
