Tampa Go Ahead, Spread Holiday Cheer: Use Voice, Pictures, Music, Text and Video to Send Greetings Instantly, from Virtually Anywhere
Publish Date : 12/14/2007 7:08:00 AM   Source : Networking News Onlypunjab.com

Sprint (NYSE:S) has given its Tampa Bay area customers something to celebrate this holiday season. As the year comes to an end, Sprint has added more than 470 Sprint and Nextel cell sites throughout the state this year so that customers can enjoy the benefits of SprintSpeed from even more places. Of those, 57 were added in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Hernando, Pasco and Citrus counties.

Sprint offers the largest voice calling area, the fastest and largest national mobile broadband network* and the worlds fastest and largest push-to-talk network, which means customers can share pictures and video, download full-length CD-quality songs, send emails with large attachments, or connect instantly with the touch of a button with Nextel Direct Connect.

Whether shopping for holiday gifts at Citrus Park Town Center, on the way to visit family and friends in Clearwater, or trying to get last minute work details done Tampa International Airport, our customers can do the things that matter the most to them instantly and on the go, said Jaime Jones, area vice president, Florida. The Sprint Network team has been working aggressively all year to ensure our customers have the enhanced coverage they need.

Sprint customers can take advantage of the recent improvements at the following key locations in the community:

Hillsborough County

  • Palm River, at Causeway Boulevard and 78th Street; also at US 41 and Palm River Road
  • Brandon, at Brandon Parkway and Lumsden Road; also at I-75 and Adamo Drive
  • Tampa, at 30th Street and Bougainvillea Avenue
  • Ruskin, in the area of US 41 and College Avenue

Pinellas County

  • St. Petersburg, at 49th Street and 46th Avenue North; also the Pink Streets district; and at US 19 and 46th Avenue North
  • St. Petersburg, serving the west end of the Howard Franklin Bridge
  • Clearwater, at Missouri Avenue and Lakeview Road; also at Enterprise Road and US 19
  • Pinellas Park, in the area of Umerton and Belcher roads

  • Wesley Chapel cell sites along SR 54 at Magnolia Road and also at Livingston Road
  • Land OLakes, at US 41 and Hobson Road

Nationally, Sprint has invested billions to enhance its networks, increase coverage and capacity and these investments are paying off. Across both of Sprint's wireless networks, significantly fewer calls are blocked or dropped, translating to better connections for customers. The Nationwide Sprint Network and the Nextel National Network are performing at best-ever levels.

Customers can trust Sprints robust, ever-growing voice coverage to keep them in touch with friends, family, and co-workers. Whether its catching a conference call or just catching-up, Sprint provides the largest voice calling area*, enabling customers to talk in more places, said Jones.

In addition to more than $166.7 million that Sprint spent in Florida in the first half of the year, Sprint expects to have invested more than $6 billion nationally to further enhance its networks in 2007 and to continue to meet the demand for extensive mobile broadband coverage across the nation.

Sprint Mobile Broadband allows customers to quickly download large files as well as access high-speed data applications using handheld devices and connection cards. With select phones, customers can browse the Web, access email, share pictures, use location based services for navigation, wirelessly download music, listen to commercial free radio and watch live TV and full-length movies, all at broadband speeds.

The Sprint Mobile Broadband Network (inclusive of data roaming) reaches more than 230 million people, 12,721 cities and 1,220 airports.

The Nextel National Network is one of the largest, all-digital wireless networks in the U.S., covering more than 274 million people in 297 of the top 300 markets. Its based on integrated digital enhanced network (iDEN) always-on technology, which allows Nextel Direct Connect® subscribers to connect faster than customers on other carriers walkie-talkie networks (based on initial call set-up time).
