Storwize Inc., the only provider of primary storage data compression solutions, was named a finalist in the storage network equipment category for the 2007 Products of the Year competition by the editors of SearchStorage.com and Storage magazine for its Storwize STN-6000 appliance, which reduces storage capacity by as much as five times the uncompressed data. This is the second straight year that the company’s products have been selected as a finalist for these awards.
The STN-6000 was selected as a finalist from more than 200 storage-related products originally submitted for the awards in five categories. Winners will be announced on February 5 and will be selected based on the product’s innovation, performance, ease of integration into existing environments, ease of use and manageability, functionality and value as judged by the Storage magazine and SearchStorage.com editors and other storage industry experts. All new storage products shipped between October 27, 2006 and October 26, 2007 were eligible for nomination.
“With so many storage solutions submitted for consideration in the Storage Products of the Year, we are extremely pleased that the editors selected us as a finalist in the Storage Networking Equipment category,” said Gal Naor, CEO of Storwize. “For the second straight year, we are among the industry’s most innovative storage technologies recognized by TechTarget. And as such, we feel this industry is a validation of the importance of primary storage compression within the data center that helps users reduce not only the amount of storage under management but also the amount of energy, hardware and operational costs that continue to impact today’s IT infrastructures.”
Storwize’s STN-6000 features real-time data compression technology that leverages a powerful multi-core hardware platform. The technology allows existing infrastructures to store as much as five times more data with no performance degradation, helping the most data-intensive enterprises maximize their growing network infrastructure at a fraction of their current cost. It requires no workflow changes, no software agents, no drivers and no configuration changes.
