Publish Date : 2/26/2008 5:12:00 AM Source : Networking News Onlypunjab.com
Open source innovator and SNORT® creator, Sourcefire, Inc. (Nasdaq:FIRE), a leader in network intrusion prevention, today announced that Wayne Jackson, the company’s Chairman and CEO, will be a featured speaker at the second annual Southeast Venture Conference (SEVC) in Tysons Corner, Virginia on February 28, 2008 from 8:00-9:45 a.m. Eastern Time.
The SEVC is one of the nation's premier venture capital forums. The mission of the Southeast Venture Conference is to help support the innovation and entrepreneurial activity of emerging high growth technology companies from the southeast region and the resulting economic growth in the Southeast. As part of that goal, the SEVC understands the importance of investment capital to this equation and provides a key forum to facilitate the infusion of growth to the southeast high growth technology community.
During Wayne's tenure as CEO, Sourcefire has grown from an innovative startup to a technology and market leader with more than 225 employees and operations worldwide serving over 1,700 customers. On March 9, 2007, Sourcefire raised $84 million dollars in net proceeds from its initial public offering of stock, the first network security industry IPO in over five years. Building on its successful collaboration with the SNORT open source community, in August 2007 Sourcefire acquired ClamAV, an extremely successful open source project, which has been downloaded by nearly 1 million unique IP addresses throughout more than 38 countries.
