The rSmart Group Announces New Customers for Kuali, an Open Source Financial Management System Built by Education for Education
Publish Date : 1/14/2008 8:06:00 AM Source : IT and Management News Onlypunjab.com
The rSmart Group, the leading full-service provider of open source software solutions for education, today announced at Kuali Days V that several institutions of higher education have selected The rSmart Group to provide commercial support and services for Kuali Financial System (KFS), Kuali Enterprise Workflow (KEW), and Kuali Rice. Boston University, Illinois State University, Colorado State University, University of California at Irvine, University of California at Santa Barbara, and San Joaquin Delta College will depend on rSmart’s expertise to help them evaluate the functional fit of KFS, plan for system adoption through the development of KFS proof-of-concepts, build custom Kuali-based applications with KEW and Kuali Rice, and perform other Kuali consulting, development, and training activities.
“rSmart is the only partner out there capable of taking an institution through all steps of Kuali adoption,” said Lee Belarmino, Vice President of Information Technology at San Joaquin Delta College. “They can support everything from Kuali software evaluation, planning and piloting to implementation, configuration and ongoing production support—as demonstrated not only by the work they’ve done for us, but also by what they recently did with Strathmore University, the first live KFS implementation.”
These new projects indicate that more and more universities recognize an opportunity to cut the costs of administrative computing while benefiting from best-of-breed enterprise systems built for education by education. By relying on rSmart, universities can begin using Kuali sooner than would otherwise be possible with the highest level of confidence.
“It’s exciting to see so many new institutions working with community-developed, open source software solutions like Kuali,” said Chris Coppola, President of The rSmart Group. “Research shows that [the perceived] lack of support for open source software is the greatest barrier to adoption. I’m proud to be part of a talented team at rSmart that works with colleges and universities every day to remove that barrier and support the innovation of these education communities. Red Hat and others removed that barrier for Linux; rSmart and partners like IBM are removing it for Kuali.”
