Don Sebastiani & Sons International Wine Negociants today announced it will launch a new wine brand —MooBuzz —which will focus on super-premium Burgundy grape varieties grown in the Sonoma Coast appellation.
“The breezy Sonoma Coast has a tremendous reputation for outstanding vineyards that are farmed with the highest agricultural standards,” said Don Sebastiani, Jr., company marketing director. “We have been able to secure tremendous fruit that showcases both the unique terroir of the rocky soils and cool climates in this region, as well as the talents of our winemakers, Richard Bruno and Greg Kitchens.” Chardonnay and Pinot Noir will be featured as the exclusive varietals in this line.
Distinguished by windswept rolling hills and a rugged coastline that disappears into the Pacific Ocean, dotted with Redwood groves and dairy ranches, the Sonoma Coast appellation is home to artisan winemakers and food producers. “It truly is the ‘land of milk and honey’ — that’s where we got the name MooBuzz, for the cows and the bees,” Sebastiani explained.
The wine is packaged in a simple, elegant style, reflecting the marketing strategy of on-premise and high-end wine store placements. That is consistent with the company’s plan to trade its business up into higher-priced appellation-specific wines.
The MooBuzz label features a stylized topographical map of the Sonoma coastline, further emphasizing the importance of wine’s origin. It was designed by M Space, a Sonoma-based graphic design firm that has created several of the company’s unique labels, including Plungerhead and Aquinas Napa Valley.
The suggested retail price for the 2006 MooBuzz Pinot Noir is $25. The 2006 MooBuzz Chardonnay will retail for $20. The wine will be marketed as a part of The Other Guys portfolio.
