NXP today announced it is supplying Sling Media, Inc. with the processing power to drive the new SlingCatcher, a next generation digital media device that seamlessly delivers broadcast, broadband and personal content to your TV.
Enhanced by NXP’s STB810 IP set-top box solution, SlingCatcher lets users “sling” video content from one TV to another — for example, from a Digital Video Recorder-enabled TV to another screen in your house or hotel — and from your PC or laptop to a TV.
“Consumers have long wanted anytime, anywhere access to TV and digital media, and NXP is collaborating with Sling to truly empower this engaging, personalized experience at home or on-the-go,” said Christos Lagomichos, executive vice president and general manager, Home business unit, NXP Semiconductors. “NXP technology powers the SlingCatcher, so consumers can stream content from the Internet to their TV or to another TV making anytime, anywhere access a reality.”
“Sling Media is always looking for ways to push the envelope and deliver never-before-imagined ways to enjoy digital video, which is enabled by our collaboration with NXP on SlingCatcher,” said Bhupen Shah, CTO and co-founder, Sling Media. “SlingCatcher enables us to deliver an enhanced multimedia experience with advanced content to consumers anytime, anywhere.”
Availability/Demo
The SlingCatcher is on demonstration at CES in Sling Media’s booth, #73106, in the Sands Convention Center and in NXP’s Semiconductor Showcase at the Wynn.
