Jenkat Media, Inc., a casual game developer and distributor, founded by veterans of Fox Interactive Media and Intermix Media (parent company of MySpace.com), today announced they have completed their seed round of financing.
The company will use the proceeds of the seed-stage funding to accelerate the design and development of its new consumer destination website JenkatGames.com, and its next two original casual games scheduled for release in the first half of 2008.
The round was led by Rob and Ryan Weber, founders of W3i (formerly known as Freeze.com), which owns consumer entertainment sites, such as Ringtone.com, Screensaver.com, and Wallpapers.com. "The explosive growth of the casual games sector has led my brother Ryan and I to carve out a strategic place in this burgeoning market," said Robert Weber, Co-Founder of W3i. "Jenkat's management team has a golden track record of not only creating original and successful casual game IP's, but also monetizing those games beyond the traditional online marketplace."
Jenkat's first two games include Café Mahjongg, an immersive casual game set in a coffee house, and Finder Keepers, an Atlantic Ocean-themed adventure for adults and kids of all ages. Both games are now available at www.jenkatgames.com
