SavySoftware and Rentacoder Expert To Supplement Disadvantaged Schools With Free Technology
Publish Date : 1/15/2008 6:03:00 AM   Source : Software and ERP News Onlypunjab.com

SavySoftware announced today that a new partnership with one of Rentacoder's top certified experts will develop and donate educational software to some of the nation's most disadvantaged schools. The move comes after learning the Third International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) gave third world countries a higher literacy rate than that found in the U.S. It also comes after learning Schwarzenegger's threat to cut California's education budget.

"Our country's educational opportunities are obviously dwindling from slim to none, and nothing indicates an upturn," said Randy Higgins, CEO of SavySoftware. Mr. Higgins promotes software designed to extend the capabilities of the average computer user. "If we don't extend the capabilities of our nation's children," Higgins said, "we won't have much of a future to stand on." According to Mr. Higgins, the most feasible way to educate the nation is to give the schools what they need for free.

"The states are cutting school budgets," he continued, "and that's cutting our nation's potential." Statistics indicate that the nation's potential is further jeopardized by Schwarzenegger's proposed budget. If passed, such a move will reduce the number of resources that are already sparse, and hit the state's poorest districts first.

Nicole Miller, one of Rentacoder's top certified experts and SavySoftware's partner contributes, "Having educated grades K - 12 for over nine years now, I know what it takes to teach children. Having 12+ years experience in software development, I also know what it takes to facilitate learning." Both Mr. Higgins and Mrs. Miller are confident that their alliance will move the nation onto a course of high literacy and academic leadership. "Our younger generation doesn't seem to know what a country needs to flourish and that puts my future at stake," Miller adds. "It puts all of our futures at stake, in fact."

"That's why I specifically sought a partnership with Nicole," said Mr. Higgins. Higgins went on to state that SavySoftware has the resources to finance a turn-around, but Mrs. Miller has the technological skills needed to manifest that turn-around. Combining both resources and skills, the partnership plans to approach and raise the national average one district at a time with free multimedia and testing software for all subjects and for all grades. Their donations, which include programs for both the PC and Macintosh computer, will replace traditional instruments that government continues to cut from district budgets.

Plans to initiate this ''war on educational terror'' as Higgins and Miller called it, will occur before next term. "We've already contacted and discussed our plans with some of Florida's key teachers and the feedback has been tremendous," Randy said. "They're eager to work with us and we're pleased to help."
