Cdigix Integrates C-Labs On-Demand Media Platform with Sakai Course Management System
Publish Date : 2/12/2008 6:09:00 AM Source : IT and Management News Onlypunjab.com
Cdigix, Inc., the leading provider of rich digital media services for colleges and universities, today unveiled its Sakai integration tool, enabling institutions using Sakai to easily integrate with C-Labs. The integration allows students and faculty to seamlessly access C-Labs digital media content directly from within the Sakai course management system. Through a single sign-on process, users can easily access assigned media through the C-Labs platform without ever navigating outside of the Sakai course management system or entering additional login credentials. This integration further allows students the ease of accessing assigned media at each course-level within Sakai, making it much easier for students to work within their registered courses.
The C-Labs platform enables colleges and universities to easily deliver, manage and access rich digital media securely and legally for students and faculty anytime, anywhere. The Sakai integration tool, developed by Cdigix at the request of its higher education customers, enables institutions using the Sakai platform to further enhance the learning process by providing simplified, course-level access to additional resources on-demand.
“The Sakai integration tool provides an incredibly easy way for faculty to assign and students to access a richer set of resources that complement course curriculum,” said Mark Brodsky, vice president of Sales and Marketing for Cdigix. “This integration marks another successful step along our product roadmap to provide better accessibility and management of rich media, specifically as an integrated part of an institution’s curricula and existing course management system, in order to improve student productivity.”
The Sakai integration tool leverages the C-Labs API, enabling users to automatically view assigned media titles and download the files to their computer from within the course management system. The automated process enables students to concentrate their efforts more on course content rather than navigating various technology platforms.
Additionally, the integration tool automates the authentication process so administrators can eliminate duplication of multiple systems. Administrators no longer need to associate students with both systems. The tool enables recognition of those students in the Sakai system, while still maintaining the security Cdigix has built into C-Labs to control which users view content during specified times.
