A radio show that takes a hard yet humorous look into the money behind the marketing of sports and entertainment is reaching a new audience in Los Angeles with its recent arrival at talk station 97.1 KLSX Free FM. "Your Money's Worth," which features two sharp-witted hosts prodding high-profile guests on financial aspects of their enterprises, now airs on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. PST on the city's only FM talk-radio station and also one of its largest. The program, produced by Fortune Market Media, Inc., moved from station KRLA 870AM. "Your Money's Worth" has been airing in Boca Raton Florida on 740 AM for a year and a half.
"We take a look at the business behind sports, entertainment and finance," said Ryan Tomlinson, executive vice president and director of media at Fortune Market. "We want to know what you're really watching when you're being entertained by TV or a sporting event. For instance, who are these corporations spending millions of dollars on NASCAR? We're bringing that out and calling that even more forward."
The program marked its arrival to KLSX Oct. 13 with an interview of Jim Buckmaster, CEO of Craigslist. Buckmaster spoke about the site's marketing strategy, including its resistance use to its advantage a potential database of millions. The Oct. 20 program welcomed Pat Riley, former coach of the Lakers and current president and head coach of the Miami Heat, who shared the motivation that keeps him in the game when the team loses its way and how hunger and heart can be a player's best assets. "Your Money's Worth" interviews will continue to feature athletes, celebrities and industry-leading executives.
Florida-based hosts Mick "The Mixter" Bazsuly and Jeff "Defo" DeForrest add interest and theatrics to the show, delivering personalities of "Donny Deutsch with a comical Soprano twist," said Tomlinson. "It's a killer combo; there is no one like them on air."
Both hosts boast long resumes in sports casting and A-list celebrity interviews. DeForrest also hosts--with Bazsuly as his sidekick--a daily program in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Palm Beach area, the fifth largest market in the country, where DeForrest has been named most recognized sports announcer. That program airs Monday through Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. EST.
