Businesses could make consumers pay up big time this year. Last week’s poll showed the majority of businesses are already changing spending in anticipation of a possible recession. However, that is not all they are doing to make up for potential shortfalls.
This week’s question from infoUSAPoll.com, “Will you increase your prices in 2008?” was posted to U.S. businesses. Over a thousand respondents, (1,212 or 57%) said yes, they would raise their prices. Increased pricing does not mean increased service. Consumers may end up getting less for their money as businesses strive to maintain growth in a tough economy. Another third of business respondents (598 or 30%) said they would not raise prices.
infoUSAPoll.com emails a survey question to poll participants each week via the Internet. Topics include the economy, computer usage, outlook for the future, common headaches of running a business, growing their business, political issues and much more. This weekly poll takes the pulse of businesses and executives and gives them a chance to voice their opinion on issues and problems they collectively face. Results are released each Monday.
