The Devil Wears Prada Star Adrian Grenier and Model Jessica Stam Host Charity Gala in NYC
Publish Date : 12/12/2007 7:41:00 AM   Source : American Local News Onlypunjab.com

In only 14 months, Scott Harrison's, founder of charity: campaign ( http://www.charitywater.org )has raised more than $1.2 million for water education and well building. These wells will serve more than 150,000 people with clean, safe water. charity: water bottles will also be available for sale, with 100% OF THE PROCEEDS going directly to freshwater well projects in impoverished African communities, leaving guests with the message that every person is capable of making a difference.

Last year's charity: ball event, hosted by Actor Adrian Grenier (Entourage, The Devil Wears Prada) and Model and Actress Jessica Stam (The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, Agent Orange) raised $250,000 which helped more than 25,000 people to gain access to clean and safe drinking water

This year, Adrian and Jessica are back and the event will feature: a special live music performance, extraordinary large scale photographs, soundscapes, video installations, and interactive displays in an interactive exhibition produced by charity: founder and photojournalist, Scott Harrison together with Metropolitan Events & Production.

A-List celebrities and New York's social elite will also be on-hand to show their support, donating personalized auction items and making appearances on this holiday's hottest red carpet. The evening will also feature a silent auction with items donated by Prada, YSL, David Yurman, Soho House, Delano, Mulberry and more with all proceeds going towards the building of wells.

The organization has sponsored the construction and rehabilitation of 258 wells in 8 African countries. When completed, these wells will serve more than 150,000 people with clean, safe water. The charity: water program is unique as it visually shows the work done on the ground through satellite imagery and photo documentation of the completed wells through Google Earth. A single freshwater well that costs only $4,000 can provide more than 500 people with clean, safe drinking water for more than 15 years. Based on the average yield of a freshwater well, buying just one bottle of charity: water can give someone in Africa clean water for 15 years.

"I was living a selfish and sycophantic life, I was miserable and decided to dedicate a year of my life to humanitarian service. To see 5,000 people standing in a field without access to health care, many suffering from parasites and flesh eating diseases, some caused by lack of fresh water and health care, well it changes you. You can't go back, you have to do something" said founder and president of charity:, Scott Harrison.

Advance tickets to the event are available now at www.charitywater.org at the price of $1,000 for VIP tickets and $200 for general tickets.
