Nothing can compare to the feelings of helplessness and despair a pet owner feels when they lose their furry friend. But when that little bundle of fur has run away, it turns into a race against time. Is the pet hurt? Is she scared? Will they ever see her again? In this blistering Texas heat, a pet could easily die of starvation or worse.
Erin Musquiz of Carrollton, Texas is currently fighting that battle and she is calling on the assistance of all pet lovers in the Dallas area. In the 5:00 hour on the evening of August 9, "Monica", her eight month old miniature Dachshund escaped from her collar and darted away. The purebred pedigree pup is a red and black brindle bearing no identification tags or microchip. She was last seen in the Dawntree apartment complex as well as the Peters Colony Apartments on the northwest corner of Josey Lane and Frankford Road in Carrollton. She is wearing a pink collar with small red flowers.
Calls have been placed to the local animal shelters as well as the Carrollton Animal Control Center. Signs have been posted in local vendor shops and veterinarian clinics. "Monica" is currently on the mend from a broken left leg and still requires gentle handling and medications. A reward has been offered for the safe return of this happy little dog.
