BoundaryMedical Inc., Launches Orthopaedic Outcome Measurement Software
Publish Date : 4/19/2008 2:06:00 AM   Source : Health News Onlypunjab.com

BoundaryMedical, Inc. has introduced its new Outcome EnterpriseTM Study Manager for measuring outcomes relating to orthopaedic treatments. As Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Outcome EnterpriseTM Study Manager allows users to collect and manage clinical data over the Internet easily, reliably, securely, efficiently and affordably. It is available for a single activation fee and monthly subscription fees.

Measurement of outcomes is becoming critical to medical practices in order to meet Pay-for-Performance reimbursement requirements, conduct clinical research and demonstrate quality of care. Paper files, PC-based databases and/or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems don't adequately meet the need for capturing, measuring and reporting clinical outcomes. Outcome EnterpriseTM Study Manager allows time-pressured physicians and budget-constrained researchers alike to measure clinical and patient reported outcomes. Using Outcome EnterpriseTM Study Manager, a clinician can begin tracking outcomes or initiate a research study in less than an hour.

The design of Outcome EnterpriseTM Study Manager makes it easy to use and flexible. A user can design an outcomes program or study by working through the systems intuitive interface, specifying electronic data capture (EDC) needs and other parameters. Because it contains reference libraries of orthopaedic-specific content, Case Report Forms (CRF) are quickly created. Also included are libraries of general health surveys like the SF12TM, disease-specific instruments like Oswestry® and WOMAC®, and other measurement tools such as certain Visual Analog Scores (VAS). Users may also add their own clinical measures.
Mark Walinske, BoundaryMedicals CEO, stated, For the first time ever, Outcome EnterpriseTM puts affordable measurement technology and data in the hands of clinicians who want to measure clinical outcomes, have to meet the demands of Pay-for-Performance or want to confront the challenges of biased rating systems. Having outcomes data allows the physician to deal proactively with health plans, device companies and most importantly – their patients”.

Outcome EnterpriseTM Study Manager is built and delivered on a HIPAA compliant, high-reliability, open-source technology architecture with design input from leading medical device, health insurance companies as well as clinical researchers and physicians. Steadman-Hawkins Clinic and the Orthopaedic Research Foundation, a well-known and respected orthopaedic group, served as BoundaryMedicals primary development partner. Outcome EnterpriseTM Study Manager currently supports orthopaedic uses and will be adapted to other medical specialties and applications. The Boundary solution allows us to capture critical data we must have to continue our world-class research in an extremely efficient manner”, states Gary Hyman, CEO, Orthopaedic Research Foundation.
