easyJet Automates and Optimizes Crew Pairings With Kronos®
Publish Date : 1/21/2008 6:17:00 AM   Source : Technology News Onlypunjab.com

Europe’s leading low-cost carrier, easyJet, has selected the Altitude Pairing™ solution from Kronos® Incorporated to improve its current crew planning processes. Altitude Pairing, developed by the AD OPT Division within Kronos, will provide easyJet planners and management with tools to understand the entire planning process in an effort to build cost-effective and operations-friendly pairings, while respecting company rules and regulations.

In support of our year-over-year network growth, and to achieve economies of scale, we required a more sophisticated solution to assist in the management of our crew costs,” said Cor Vrieswijk, operations director at easyJet. “Our overarching objective is to improve the planning process. We expect our crew planning department to greatly benefit from Altitude Pairing’s ability to support extended ‘what-if’ capabilities by providing our planners the ability to explore new and alternate scenarios.”

With a need for optimization technology to manage a growing number of crewmembers, Altitude Pairing will automate and simplify the planning process, providing easyJet the ability to make better decisions through greater insight.

“As a result of an ongoing consulting relationship, a successful proof of concept, and a stringent procurement process, Kronos was able to demonstrate the extended value of its optimized pairing solution,” added Vrieswijk. “Kronos’ tailored consulting approach was a key factor in our decision.”

With the automated and optimized development of its crew pairings, easyJet will benefit from Altitude Pairing’s ability to assist planners in performing daily tasks while also improving both short- and long-term planning capabilities.

“We are very pleased to include the fourth-largest intra-European airline amongst the numerous international airlines that manage pairings with the Altitude Pairing solution,” said Tom Ivaskiv, vice president and general manager of Kronos’ AD OPT Division. “Our goal is to assist large, mid-size, and growth-minded airlines across the globe with their complex crew planning needs. easyJet’s confidence in Kronos further demonstrates our ability to meet the unique challenges of low-cost carriers.”
