National Advertising Campaign to Highlight Online Divorce Launches
Publish Date : 4/25/2008 6:02:00 AM   Source : United Kingdom News Onlypunjab.com

A national advertising campaign promoting the benefits of using online divorce has been launched by Divorce-Online (www.divorce-online.co.uk) in Motorway service station washrooms and bars and lifestyle clubs all over England and Wales.

The campaign which will target men and women with separate posters features disgruntled couples and is entitled “Not all marriages are meant to last” and is intended to educate couples whose divorce is likely to be uncontested that they do not need to spend thousands of pounds with Solicitors to achieve an amicable divorce.

The campaign which is being run by outdoor media specialists Admedia intends to reach over 14.1 million eyeballs in the 4 week period of the campaign.

The campaign follows a successful television campaign in the summer of 2007 which saw the number of divorce packages sold increase by 50% and that number has continued into 2008.

The service offers both DIY and managed divorce services from just £65.00 and believes it now accounts for 6% of the total divorce market in England and Wales.

Mark Keenan, Managing Director says “With more and more people on average incomes being unable to afford the extremely high rates charged by Solicitors and being unable to afford legal aid, they are turning to the internet to obtain their divorces and this is likely to grow as the credit crunch and looming recession starts to bite.”

FACTSHEET

  • Divorce rates declined in 2006 per 1000 married population
  • Divorce-Online has processed 43,000 divorces since 2000
  • Their market share has risen from 1.5 to 5% of the total divorce market
  • Divorce-Online deals with 150% more cases than the average Solicitor’s practice
  • Divorce-Online won The Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2007 by the Wiltshire Business of the Year Awards in February 2008
  • Divorce-Online was recently awarded Official Honoree status at the prestigious Webby Awards for 2008

Additional Divorce Statistics for Editors

This is the second year running that the figure has fallen and the divorce rate is now at its lowest since 1984.

However, one in five men and women divorcing in 2006 had a previous marriage ending in divorce. This proportion has doubled in 25 years. In more than two-thirds (69%) of cases the wife was granted the divorce. The most common "fact" supporting divorce was the unreasonable behaviour of the other partner.

One in three people get divorced nowadays and the latest figures for 2006 showed 132,562divorces in England & Wales, where one in five of these were second divorces.

There are 3831 law firms dealing with divorce in England and Wales.

Where divorce was granted to the husband, there had been a two-year separation in 32% of cases. Over 60% of users of the Divorce-Online service are women.
