3 More Colleges Join Tuition Rewards Consortium; 110,131 Students Now Enrolled
Publish Date : 3/28/2008 3:25:00 AM   Source : Education and Studies Onlypunjab.com

Dr. James Johnston, Chairman & CEO of SAGE Scholars, a nationwide consortium of 207 private colleges and universities, today announced that The College of Wooster (Wooster, OH), University of the Incarnate Word (San Antonio, TX) and Franklin College (Franklin, IN) have become members of the SAGE Tuition Rewards consortium (www.tuitionrewards.com).

The College of Wooster, nationally recognized for its focus on independent learning, is the newest and 207th member of the Tuition Rewards college consortium. The prestigious liberal arts college, located on a 240-acre campus 55 miles southwest of Cleveland, boasts an 11-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio and is home to 1,882 students from 47 states and 37 countries. The college's senior independent study project - original research, written work, performance or an exhibit of artwork - is supported one-on-one by a faculty member. Alumni include Arthur Compton, a Nobel Prize-winner in physics. The College of Wooster is one of 40 schools cited in noted educator Loren Pope's book, "Colleges That Change Lives: 40 Schools That Will Change the Way You Think About College."

University of the Incarnate Word is a leader in international studies. UIW's 5,217 students can study abroad at nearly 100 "sister schools" in 34 nations, spending a semester or longer in countries such as Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, England, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Taiwan, Thailand and Turkey. In 2000, UIW became the first American institution to grant degrees of higher learning in China, through the China Incarnate Word Foreign Education Center in Guangzhou. UIW was also the first university to offer an undergraduate degree accredited in both the U.S. and Mexico.

Franklin College, a residential four-year undergraduate liberal arts institution 20 minutes from downtown Indianapolis, sits on 156-acre campus. Students enjoy easy access to large-city resources -- and the charm and small-town atmosphere of Franklin (population 20,000). Founded in 1834, Franklin was the first Indiana college to admit women. It offers 50 academic majors and 37 minors to its 1,014 undergraduate students. The school maintains an average class size of 15 and a 50-50 ratio of male-to-female students.

110,131 students are now enrolled in Tuition Rewards, which fosters a dynamic relationship among three separate groups - families, colleges and financial institutions - by addressing the unique needs of each. When registered students attend one of the 207 participating private colleges, the family's Tuition Reward points may be redeemed as scholarships - a non-need based discount of up to one full year's tuition.

About SAGE Scholars:
SAGE was founded in 1995 by Dr. James Johnston, the former director of admissions and financial aid at the Wharton Graduate School, University of Pennsylvania. SAGE's Tuition Reward plan (www.tuitionrewards.com)is now the largest private college savings program in the U.S., based on the number of participating students and assets under management.
