Design
The exterior of the Nokia 8600 mobile phone made of stainless steel and opaque smoke glass. Handling the glass imprints finger print marks all over the scratch resistant glass. The back of the phone is also made of chromed stainless steel. This finish is quite prone to scratches. At 143 gm it a very solid phone.
Display
The display is quite astonishing. The organic screen which has reduced power consumption. It supports more than 16 millions colors and 240 x 320 pixels resolutions. The brightness of the screen enables 100% visibility in the sunshine. The buttons below the screen enables the phone to be used even when it is closed.
Slider
The slider slides smoothly to reveal the keypad beneath.The key is illuminated when the phone rings. It pulsates like the heart beat. It also reveals the camera on the rear side.On both the sides are the external speakers with stereo sound. For synchronization purposes Nokia included also a microUSB port found on the right side of the phone. This is the first handset in the world to feature this type of USB port which is half the size of a standard miniUSB port.
Camera
There is a 2 mega pixel camera which is quite ok. There are 6 available shooting resolutions ranging from 320 x 240 pixels and up to 1600 x 1200 pixels. There is a night mode too to take pictures in the night. The phone comes with a good media player and FM radio.
Features
The Nokia 8600 mobile phone features a features an S40 platform. It is also Quad-band GSM support. This allows for full time connectivity when on the road. The wireless Bluetooth connectivity all add to the features of the phone.
