The advantage of these deals is that no other company is able to market the product which then builds sales and reputation for the parties involved, the more exclusive deals a company can sign, the more profit and promotion is gained.
This is very different for the consumer, it means that should a person have their heart set on a certain handset and a mobile phone company signs the exclusive rights to sell that model then the consumer can only buy it from one of their outlets or websites.
It also means that their is no competition and the price demanded for that handset is unfortunately the price the customer will have to pay, however the networks and retailers realise that being branded as expensive by consumers will not help their cause and so the prices reflect the average for similar handsets on the market with line rental discounts, free gifts and cash back deals worked into the equation.
The latest of these exclusive deals to be signed is between the UK network operator Vodafone and the worldwide manufacturer Nokia, both heavy hitting companies within the global mobile phones market.
Vodafone have been given licence to be the exclusive sales channel for the new Nokia 6500 Gold Edition, but to further their promotion tactics the network has branded the handset as Havana Gold. This is to be a more common name for Gold coloured phones released exclusively with Vodafone as they have also recently secured an exclusive handset from another big manufacturer, Sony Ericsson for the new Sony Ericsson W910i Gold, again to be rebranded as the W910i Havana Gold.
The Nokia 6500 Havana Gold offers exactly the same specifications, features and dimensions as the Nokia 6500 Classic but the exterior casing of seamless anodised aluminium that the handset has been famed for is now covered in a shimmering gold finish, a finish that gives the handset an air of expense and sophistication.
The gold finish does not just stop at the casing either, the keypad has also been coloured gold to fit with the new look, the only similarity between the models is the Silver accents found on each key and the circumference of the main navigation button.
Both 6500 models are 3G enabled handsets allowing for fast internet access and download speeds of new mobile content such as ringtones, games, themes and wallpapers for personalisation, there is a 2.0 megapixel camera situated on the reverse of the handset that incorporates a flash for low light conditions, a digital zoom for close up photography and support for video recording and playback of short video clips.
Other features include an MP3 player that can be filled with music tracks by either connecting to a PC with a USB or downloading direct from the mobile internet via 3G before being organised into playlists to suit tempo, genre or mood, a further music feature is an integrated FM radio although this could be used to keep up to date with news and weather reports.
The new Havana Gold Edition of the Nokia 6500 Classic is th slimmest Nokia mobile phone currently available at a mere 9.5mm thin, slim enough to fit most suit pockets and handbags alike, the extra colour introduced with Vodafones branding makes for a real alternative to the original.
