Leading Industry experts will be presenting at Next Biofuels Technologies Conference in Beijing

Experts will gather in Beijing to present and discuss on next generation technologies for biofuels (ethanol, biodiesel & synthetic fuels), yield-efficient feedstock management and production economics at CMT's Next Biofuels Technologies Conference, 25-26 October 2007.

Emerging technologies, biomass conversion, cellulosic ethanol production and biomass-to-liquid (BTL) take on the centre-stage of the discussion as the global food versus fuel constraint puts the pressure on alternative feedstocks, new process and technologies. Oil companies, transportation and the utilities sectors in Asia are also pacing up their R&D and integration strategy to either compete or complement with evolving new technological development.

Latest emerging alternative feedstock for production of biofuels are Sweet sorghum and jatropha. Major cultivation and production plans have been laid out for commercialized usage of these crops. At the same time, the industry is also looking to adopt new technologies in the production process/technologies of biomass and cellulosic feedstock. Now that China has prohibited corn based ethanol production and mandated the switch to non-food agriculture feedstock, such as sweet sorghum and cellulose, Asia's strategy to realize this will hinge on available acreage and yield for the oil crops.

All the above and more will be discussed at CMT's Next Biofuels Technologies conference, a spin-off to its successful North Asia Biofuels conference that took place in Shanghai last December. Panelist invited to share views on opportunities and latest updates on the biofuels industry includes BP, Choren, Biomass Technology Research Center, International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics, McKinsey & Company, Nantong Biolux Bioenergy Protein Feed Co, FCStone, Genencor, Indian Oil Corp, Lurgi, Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory, Tian Biogreen Energy, Tsinghua University and USDA ARS.
