New England Research Institutes, Inc. (NERI), a global, privately held specialty Contract Research Organization (CRO), today announced the promotion of Rebecca Li, Ph.D., to Vice President of Clinical Research. In this high profile position, Dr. Li and her team will collaborate to further establish NERI as a private sector CRO servicing pharmaceutical, biotechnology, biomaterial, and medical device companies, while also building upon NERIfs 20-year reputation as a leading public sector research organization.
Reporting directly to NERI President, Sonja McKinlay, Ph.D., Dr. Li will manage clinical research operations and all aspects of the companyfs clinical trials, registries and related initiatives. While working to propel its commercial presence, Dr. Li will leverage NERIfs robust portfolio of federally- funded research in a variety of medical specialties „Ÿ ranging from cardiology and endocrinology to pediatrics, neurology, and menfs health „Ÿ to solidify its CRO capabilities.

Prior to her new role as Vice President of Clinical Research, Dr. Li served as Principal Research Scientist and Clinical Director at NERI. Most recently, she led a large, global Phase III clinical trial in heart failure. It involved 4,500 patients and more than 200 clinical centers in North and South America as well as Eastern Europe. Before joining NERI, Dr. Li spent 14 years in the private sector, most recently at the Director level at Wyeth Research working in the Translational Research Department. In that position, Dr. Li coordinated efforts to incorporate pharmacogenomics into clinical trials.
Dr. Li is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Brown University in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Biotechnology. She maintains an exceptional publication record of first-authored papers, presentations, and abstracts as well as co-authorships of book chapters. Dr. Li has a doctorate from Johns Hopkins in Biomolecular and Chemical Engineering.
