Epiq Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:EPIQ), a leading provider of technology solutions for the legal profession, today announced an upgrade to its flagship eDiscovery platform, DocuMatrix™, with the integration of a new near-duplicate detection service. The near-duping service is powered by Equivio technology.
The integration of this near-duping technology into DocuMatrix™ will allow reviewers to better organize review assignments by near-duplicate groupings. For example, a data set may include 10 versions of a document that differ by a few words. This near-duping technology will group these documents, and a single reviewer can review them as a set, ensuring a more consistent, systematic review. Accuracy increases, and review time, and subsequently costs, are cut.
"With document volumes continuing to grow almost exponentially, our mission is to help our customers reduce the cost and burden of litigation," says William Carter, Managing Director of Epiq Systems eDiscovery Solutions, Inc. "Our partnership with Equivio is a significant step forward in this endeavor."
Epiq Systems established this partnership because law firms and corporations are increasingly facing larger reviews involving numerous review teams. Clients need analytical technology to help ensure consistency throughout the review.
"Epiq Systems is one of the most respected eDiscovery service providers in the industry, and we are delighted to be working with them," said Amir Milo, CEO of Equivio, "Epiq has been quick to recognize the match between the business needs of their customers and Equivio's technology. We look forward to helping Epiq continue to improve the eDiscovery process for clients."
