The Commission was created by Congress under the SAFETEA-LU highway and transit reauthorization legislation to analyze future needs of the transportation network over the next 30 years and make recommendations to address urban congestion, rural access, project delivery, freight and intermodal needs.

After 20 months of nationwide hearings and deliberations, the 12-member Commission has produced a wide-ranging report that will likely shape the transportation system for decades to come. It will be outlined at a hearing set for January 17 before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.

The industry leaders who are expected to be available for comment in the East room are:
