The Northeast Energy and Commerce Association (NECA), one of New Englands largest trade associations serving the competitive electric power industry, today announced the election of Sandi M. Hennequin of Constellation Energy as President of NECA.
Hennequin, Director of Energy Policy in New England for Constellation Energy Resources, previously served as NECAs Board Secretary and has served on NECAs Board since 2004. She will assume the presidency from Frederick M. Sellars, Vice President at AMEC Earth & Environmental, on Jan. 1 and serve a one-year term. Sellars will become President Emeritus and remain a member of the NECA Board of Directors.
Based in Portsmouth, Hennequin represents Constellation Energy Resources interests in the New England Power Pool (NEPOOL) stakeholder process, before regulatory utility commissions and legislatures, and within trade associations. Within NEPOOL, Hennequin serves as the Vice Chair of the NEPOOL Markets Committee. She joined Constellation in 2003, after serving in senior positions at Navigant Consulting and Barrington Energy Partners. Hennequin holds a B.A. in Political Communication from the George Washington University and a Masters of Public Administration from Syracuse Universitys Maxwell School.
Its been a genuine privilege to serve with Fred Sellars and the entire NECA board, and Im eager to assume this new role as our organization moves forward on a busy agenda in 2008, said Hennequin. Energy is front and center as a policy issue across New England, particularly in the areas of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, and NECA continues to be an influential force for education and advocacy. Our more than 600 members represent a diverse cross-section of the power industry, but were united in our conviction that competitive markets are helping to make New Englands electricity supply more reliable, environmentally sustainable and affordable.
NECA Mission Statement
The mission of the Northeast Energy and Commerce Association, New England's largest non-profit competitive power trade association, is to promote a reliable, environmentally responsible and cost-effective regional power supply, including innovative demand-side initiatives and renewable energy.
The History of NECA
The Northeast Energy and Commerce Association (NECA) is New England's oldest and most broadly-based, non-profit trade association serving the competitive electric power industry. Founded in 1985, NECA's mission is to facilitate an open forum among all electric power stakeholders to foster the development and maturation of competitive power markets. NECA promotes environmentally sound, reliable and cost-effective wholesale and retail markets for the production and delivery of electric power supply, as well as competing energy services and resource alternatives, including conservation, innovative demand-side and power delivery technologies, renewable energy and distributed generation.
NECA's 600 members include developers and owner/operators of competitive power projects, both regulated and merchant transmission and distribution companies, power marketers and traders, fuel and equipment suppliers, power consumers and various service providers to the power industry, including law firms, investment bankers, environmental engineering and economic consulting firms.
