Angela hires a husband. Listen up, single girls who want to make sure a man is marriage material!
A single gal's specially-designed Marital Obstacle Course can now be seen on YouTube.
Angela Manfredi, a writer and disenchanted dater, placed a Help Wanted ad for the ideal temporary husband and discovered a unique way to test a guy's "husband" I.Q. By making it a financial, rather than "romancial" arrangement, she was able to relax and not be self-conscious about getting her practical needs met.
Manfredi, whose obstacle course includes jar-opening, laundry-folding, car negotiations, and building the perfect brownie sundae, decided to take a break from dating, but seek out a man who could help deal with the mechanic, rearrange the garage, prepare for a hurricane, accompany her to events, and consult on random matters as they arose.
"I didn't need a man to take me out to dinner," says Manfredi, "I needed a man to take out my garbage and help me get organized for a couple of weeks. Plus, I was curious about exploring the aspects of a purely practical partnership. Even though it was not an actual marriage, the word "husband" was the only description that seemed applicable to what I wanted in my life. The process of forming a selection committee, interviewing great guys, and watching them go through the obstacle course was so much fun, and really insightful. And, it was certainly a unique job opportunity for the right man."
