Kashmir infiltration bid foiled, three militants killed

The Indian Army Monday evening foiled yet another infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and gunned down three militants.
"Observing movements in the undulating ground between Bhagat Post and Gautam Post in Machil sector (in Kupwara district), alert troops of 9 JAK Rifles manoeuvred to plug all the escape routes of the surrounded terrorists," a defence ministry spokesman said here.
"On being challenged, the militants opened fire, resulting in a fierce gunfight," he added.
"All the three militants were killed. Four AK-47 rifles, one pistol and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered from the site."
The spokesman said that in past 10 days, security forces had gunned down 11 intruders along the LoC. |
