Before I get into a few tips to help you find a hot niche market, let's talk about mindset a little bit. That's right, mindset! If I've learned anything about affiliate and online marketing, it's that your mindset controls the majority of your success. Yes, choosing the right keywords, finding the right products and so on are all major factors that go into it. But it's your attitude, work ethic and willingness to press on when you hit a bump in the road that make the difference. If you aren't going to put in the time, effort and research that goes into being a successful online marketer, then you might as well stop wasting your time.
Ok, I hate being negative and harsh...but it's the truth! Now let's get on with a few pointers to help you find a hot niche market...without using a program to do it!
1. Look Around! - There are literally thousands of niches all around us. Take a minute to stop and observe some things. A great place to do this is at the mall, grocery store or a restaurant. What are people doing? What are they buying?
Sometimes you can stumble upon a hot niche just be being aware of other people in public. For instance, when your standing in the line at the grocery store...what is everyone (or many people) buying? Is there a niche or sub-niche that you could make some money from using these ideas? How about looking at those "tabloid" magazines? Who's hot right now? Can you find an angle to promote a product that somehow relates to these things? Yes, you can. You just have to use your head!
2. Be Forward Thinking! - Is there a new product soon to be released that you know about? I remember when the iPhone was the latest and greatest thing that was hitting the market. It wasn't hard to find a hot niche market with all that hype. Hey, even senior citizens knew what the iPhone was!
But, I didn't run right out and start promoting the iPhone itself. I found related products and services to promote to try and make some affiliate cash from. Phone holders, headphones, skins and even music services were all on my list of potential products to push. Basically, anything related to the iPhone was good....and the best part was that the phone wasn't even available to the public yet! Hype can be a beautiful thing!
3. "Back Door" Em! - Ok, I love this one. Let's say you find a hot niche market, but it's highly competitive. That's GOOD! Let me say that again...that is good! That means there are a lot of people already making money with this niche. It's now your job to find a back door into it!
So how do you do that? Well, look at how I promoted the iPhone. Find products that can relate to that niche. Instead of trying to compete with al that competition, you need to be crafty and take a unique approach to it! Let's say the niche is weight loss. Instead of trying to break into that huge industry, try a different approach like promoting a "guide to healthier eating" or "cut carbs out"...something to that effect. You aren't attacking the weight loss industry head on, but you're finding a smaller group to directly market to. Sometimes it isn't hard to find a hot niche market, it just takes some thought on how to break into it!
