True to brand, ING DIRECT will be helping a local Wilmington, Delaware family move into a much needed accessible home by paying off the mortgage from their old home. On February 12th the design team from ABC’s hit show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” presented the Latif family and their neighbor Rose Chapman with two new houses. Along with paying off the mortgage for the Latif’s house, ING DIRECT’s 70 employee volunteers canvassed the site helping to clean up the neighborhood.
“Giving back to the communities in which we work and live is the nature of ING DIRECT,” said Cathy MacFarlane, head of Corporate Relations at ING DIRECT, at a ceremony today in front of the newly unveiled homes. “We are proud to present the Latif family the opportunity for a financially sound future and to live their dreams.”
The week long project started on February 5th when the Latif family along with their next door neighbor and “adopted grandmother” Rose Chapman received the news they were receiving new homes. While the family was sent on a vacation to Walt Disney World, local volunteers along with the Extreme Makeover design team, and builders from Anderson Homes worked long hours to make the new homes possible.
