Konsyl Pharmaceuticals Finds More People Using Fiber for IBS, Cholesterol-Lowering
Publish Date : 1/23/2008 6:30:00 AM   Source : Health News Onlypunjab.com

A recent survey of online purchasers conducted by Konsyl Pharmaceuticals found a trend toward using fiber supplements to help lower cholesterol and ease symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Konsyl Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a leading producer of premium, all-natural fiber supplements for improving intestinal health.

Users of Konsyl Easy Mix psyllium fiber cited its effectiveness, higher fiber content and no-sugar or sugar-substitute formula as the top reasons for choosing Konsyl over other brands. Both Konsyl Original and Easy Mix have 6 grams of psyllium fiber per teaspoon dose, 75% more than the leading brand.

The survey also revealed a widening range of users. "Ten or 15 years ago, psyllium fiber supplements were typically associated with a much older crowd. Many of our customers came from doctor recommendations in nursing homes," said EVP of Konsyl Pharmaceuticals, John Flohr, a 33-year veteran of the company. "But now we're seeing plenty of health-conscious consumers in their 20s and 30s using fiber to help with IBS, constipation and hemorrhoids in pregnancy, even as a way to feel more full before meals for weight management. People are taking charge of their health. Most surprising was the number of people in their 40s and 50s who are now using fiber as natural way to help control cholesterol."

The trend toward managing one's own health may be a result of consumers educating each other. The Konsyl survey found that 82% of customers recommended the fiber product they used to family and friends. One husband introduced fiber to his wife as well as his grandmother. A woman who has been using Konsyl fiber for 36 years sent it to her friend in Italy, who suffered from IBS and diverticulitis. She reported that after just a week he was enjoying foods he had been unable to eat for years. Another fiber user discussed Konsyl with his veterinarian and has been giving it to his dog! And while Konsyl has been doctor-recommended for more than 50 years, some patients have even educated their gastroenterologists about its advantages as a no-additive, premium fiber supplement.

Consumers and healthcare professionals needing more information about fiber benefits as well as samples will find them at Konsyl's website www.addfiber.com
