(Nasdaq:STAR), a leading provider of infrastructure solutions that enable mobile operators to deliver multimedia services, today announced Mexican mobile operator Iusacell is using Starent® Networks’ ST16 Multimedia Core Platform to deliver multimedia applications, such as streaming video, over its CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev A network throughout Mexico.
Iusacell has taken a technology leadership role as the first 3G operator in Mexico. With the deployment of a broadband network, Iusacell continues to improve its 3G network through a next generation solution. The ST16 delivers powerful throughput, call transaction rates and packet processing, along with significant subscriber and network intelligence. For the Iusacell deployment, Starent Networks will provide the Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN) and Home Agent (HA) network elements along with geographic redundancy, Intelligent Traffic Control and Enhanced Lawful Intercept.
Iusacell chose Starent Networks’ ST16 platform to enhance its network capabilities to deliver multimedia services, as well as help provide a robust roaming environment as subscribers travel throughout Mexico or come from abroad.
