L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL), Intelligence Solutions Division (ISD), a leading provider of security and intelligence solutions to the Intelligence Community and Department of Defense (DoD) and CloudShield Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of service control and security solutions, today announced they have signed a services agreement. The agreement is targeted at solving unique computer network defense and information operations requirements.
CloudShield's solution inspects, analyzes, controls and secures converged IP network services - such as voice, video and data - at multi-gigabit rates from a single, flexible and scalable platform. In partnership with CloudShield, L-3 ISD will develop applications using CloudShield's programming capabilities for the Intelligence Community and DoD. L-3 ISD will also operate as a primary integrator helping these organizations rollout large-scale deployments and providing ongoing support.
"CloudShield brings a programmable deep packet inspection (DPI) product that is unique in the industry today," said Tony Smeraglinolo, president of L-3 ISD. "Its focus on multi-function content processing fits very well with our experience in helping the intelligence community and DoD customers protect their critical infrastructure and services, and is perfectly aligned with what our customers are demanding. This partnership with CloudShield allows us to deliver unique solutions for infrastructure security and control, combining the CloudShield DPI platform with L-3 ISD customized security applications and expertise as one of the industry's premier solutions development companies."
Under the agreement, L-3 ISD security experts evaluate each customer's current security architecture and identify potential vulnerabilities. L-3 experts then have the knowledge to recommend architectural changes, set new security policies and configure, test and deploy new solutions on the CloudShield multi-application platform. As new applications and services are introduced, and the security threat landscape evolves, L-3 works closely with customers to fine-tune its solutions.
"It is more important than ever for intelligence agencies to ensure sensitive information on networks is secure and only accessed by those authorized to see it," said Matt Jones, president and CEO at CloudShield. "The combination of our service control and security solutions with L-3's customized applications enables customers to configure policies and architectures that best fit their needs."
