Initiate Systems Presents Data Exchange at HIMSS08.
Publish Date : 2/25/2008 4:53:00 AM Source : IT and Management News Onlypunjab.com
Initiate Systems, Inc., a leader in master data management solutions (MDM), announced today that four customers who use Initiate Patient™ software for data management and data exchange, will present case studies that illustrate how building a foundation for rapid, accurate sharing of data can help to improve patient safety and the quality of care. The case studies will be delivered in the Initiate Systems booth #5549 at the HIMSS08 Annual Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, Florida.
Data exchange can occur in a variety of patient care scenarios: healthcare provider organizations may choose to share information with affiliated and non-affiliated physicians; regional health information organizations (RHIOs) may exchange data across participating hospitals, diagnostic laboratories and caregivers; and, payer organizations may provide information to improve customer service to members and providers. In each example, the ability to identify a single patient or individual provider and link their pertinent information is critical to the successful exchange of data that can improve patient safety and increase operational efficiencies.
“Healthcare enterprises want to share information about patients’ allergies, medications and lab or diagnostic results with their affiliated and non-owned clinics. This is an example of data exchange that can help reduce costs and provide better care,” said Lorraine Fernandes, vice president and healthcare industry ambassador at Initiate Systems. “Departments like radiology and cardiology want to link multiple image repositories together for a complete view of a patient’s images via a single search – this is data exchange. Payers want to exchange eligibility information with their providers – this is data exchange. However, the first step toward successfully exchanging data is proper identification of the patient or provider across healthcare networks in real time. This critical component is required and is what Initiate delivers to our clients.”
At the Initiate booth, each case study will illustrate how Initiate Patient™ software can be used as the foundation to support the rapid, accurate exchange of data within or across a healthcare enterprise. Monday, Feb. 25 at 3:00 p.m. EST: Chris Belmont, vice president, Corporate Information Systems, Ochsner Health System, will discuss how recent growth and dealing with healthcare needs of a post-Katrina dispersed community have heightened the need for accurate exchange of patient data. Tuesday Feb. 26 at 11:00 a.m. EST: Walter Fahey, CIO and vice president, MIS, Maimonides Medical Center, and Irene Koch, executive director, Brooklyn Health Information Exchange (BHIX), will present their goals for driving data exchange across disparate healthcare enterprises to better serve patient needs in one of the largest and most diverse communities in America. Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 3:00 p.m. EST: Julie Prough, project manager, UPMC, will discuss UPMC’s strategy for mastering patient data exchange across multiple data sources, while enabling the interoperability and scalability needed to keep pace with a complex and growing healthcare IT environment. Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 11:00 a.m. EST: Liesa Jenkins, executive director of CareSpark, will discuss how data exchange can be handled for a regional health information organization (RHIO) to meet the needs of a multi-stakeholder community.
