Louis A. Holland, whose career spanned 45 years as a business leader, investment manager, and professional athlete, is retiring as CEO of Holland Capital Management and as President of The Lou Holland Trust, the firm announced today.
Monica L. Walker, a Founding Partner of Holland Capital Management and Chief Investment Officer of the equity group, has been named President of the firm and of The Lou Holland Trust. Walker has been nominated by the Trustees to replace Holland on the Board of the Trust, subject to her election by shareholders. Lou Holland will continue to serve as a Trustee until his replacement is elected.
Walker has 20 years of investment experience and co-founded the firm 17 years ago with Holland, Laura J. Janus, Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer of the firm’s fixed-income group, and Catherine E. Lavery, Managing Director and Chief Administrative Officer. Janus has 38 years of investment experience, and Lavery has 24 years of financial services industry experience.
“With the continuing leadership of Monica, Laura and Catherine, Holland Capital Management will remain among the premier minority-owned, investment management firms in the nation, and our investment philosophy will remain unchanged,” Holland said. “I will miss working with this exceptional team of investment professionals, but I am looking forward to spending more time with my family, traveling and pursuing philanthropic endeavors. I’ve succeeded beyond my own dreams through a commitment to hard work, and I am extremely grateful to those who have put their trust in me over the years.”
Over the past several years, Walker, Janus and Lavery have taken on additional management responsibility with Holland’s continuing participation. Today’s announcement continues a transition that ensures the continuity of the firm’s leadership team, investment philosophy and process.
“While Lou will be missed, Holland Capital Management will continue the tradition of excellence that has been the hallmark of this firm,” Walker said. “We have an exceptional team of investment professionals who are committed to our portfolio management discipline and process. On behalf of the entire team, I want to express my appreciation to Lou for his many contributions over the years. More than just creating an outstanding investment management company, Lou is an inspiration and mentor to many people.”
