The Heartland Spa offers the tranquility of Midwest farm country. Once a dairy farm, the Destination Spa opened its doors in 1983 after a 10 month, 2 million dollar renovation. The physical transformation from a working farm to a leading Destination Spa included an indoor pool, an underground tunnel from the Manor to the Spa Barn, 32 acres of woodland and a 3 acre man-made lake.
The Heartland Spa is only 90 miles south of Chicago. The Heartland approach provides an unpretentious and nurturing environment with programs for small groups of up to 32 guests who share a common health objective. Guests are provided the opportunity to learn, experience, and utilize the most current information available regarding fitness, nutrition, and stress management. The Heartland Spa's 2:1 staff to guest ratio ensures each guest will have the help to attain their individual goals.
A two, three or five night package at The Heartland Spa offers a wide variety of fitness activities. Guests are provided with workout clothing and stay in The Country Manor overlooking the three-acre lake. Held in the dairy's Barn Studio, fitness classes include Bosu, Boot Camp, Gymnic Resistaball, Pilates Matwork, Aerobic Interval, Cardio Kickboxing and training on the latest Keiser fitness equipment. Relaxation classes offer Qi Gong, Yoga, Tai Chi and Meditation. A leisurely walk around the lake may include a few moments of reflection at one of the Meditation Gardens. Seasonal activities include Cross-Country Skiing, Water Bike, and Fishing. Cold weather does not stop the water activities. Swimming and water aerobics classes are offered in The Heartland's Olympic sized indoor pool.
The menu attracts those who are interested in optimum nutrition. The meals and snacks each day are primarily vegetarian supplemented with chicken and fish, with 1400 calories for women and 1500 for men.
