The Heartland Spa Celebrates 25 Years of Leadership in the Wellness Industry
Publish Date : 1/22/2008 3:03:00 AM   Source : Health News Onlypunjab.com

The Heartland Spa is celebrating its 25th Anniversary as a leader in the destination health spa and wellness industry. The Spa's team of experts assists guests in making positive Lifestyle Changes in the areas of nutrition, stress management, fitness, massage therapy and skincare.

Spas of America, a global online media company focused on healthy living and travel, has just awarded The Heartland Spa with a Top-30 ranking for 2007, and a #1 ranking for Illinois, based upon popularity of page views. Craig Oliver, President of Spas of America, says "A Top-30 ranking is a remarkable achievement for The Heartland Spa as it represents being in the top 5% of over 600 day, resort and destination spas on the Spas of America website." Experience pays.

The Heartland Spa offers the tranquility of Midwest farm country. Once a dairy farm, the Destination Spa opened its doors in 1983 after a 10 month, 2 million dollar renovation. The physical transformation from a working farm to a leading Destination Spa included an indoor pool, an underground tunnel from the Manor to the Spa Barn, 32 acres of woodland and a 3 acre man-made lake.

The Heartland Spa is only 90 miles south of Chicago. The Heartland approach provides an unpretentious and nurturing environment with programs for small groups of up to 32 guests who share a common health objective. Guests are provided the opportunity to learn, experience, and utilize the most current information available regarding fitness, nutrition, and stress management. The Heartland Spa's 2:1 staff to guest ratio ensures each guest will have the help to attain their individual goals.

A two, three or five night package at The Heartland Spa offers a wide variety of fitness activities. Guests are provided with workout clothing and stay in The Country Manor overlooking the three-acre lake. Held in the dairy's Barn Studio, fitness classes include Bosu, Boot Camp, Gymnic Resistaball, Pilates Matwork, Aerobic Interval, Cardio Kickboxing and training on the latest Keiser fitness equipment. Relaxation classes offer Qi Gong, Yoga, Tai Chi and Meditation. A leisurely walk around the lake may include a few moments of reflection at one of the Meditation Gardens. Seasonal activities include Cross-Country Skiing, Water Bike, and Fishing. Cold weather does not stop the water activities. Swimming and water aerobics classes are offered in The Heartland's Olympic sized indoor pool.

The menu attracts those who are interested in optimum nutrition. The meals and snacks each day are primarily vegetarian supplemented with chicken and fish, with 1400 calories for women and 1500 for men. Chef Barb Peters' recipe collection, The Heartland Spa Cookbook, is available in our Boutique. The recipes are delicious, satisfying and easy to prepare at home.

The Heartland Spa Pampering Professionals offer a variety of facials, body treatments, specialty massages and more to relax and nourish body and soul.

A visit to the Heartland Spa provides an opportunity to work with caring professionals and find the motivation to make and implement health enriching lifestyle changes. Warm country hospitality, a sensible realistic wellness program and renewal of mind, body and spirit are the products of 25 years of experience. Come home to the Heartland.

"People who vacation at destination spas return home feeling a much greater sense of self-understanding as well as more connected to family, friends and work associates than do people who take other kinds of vacation", according to a recent study by Mary H. Tabacchi, associate professor at Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration. Tabacchi also states that destination spa vacationers "have more mental and physical energy, are more alert and agile, have greater cardiovascular fitness, a better body image and they exercise more enthusiastically; they are better able to resolve challenges and to relax".
