The St. Baldrick’s Foundation has teamed up with HeadBlade to challenge New York Giants fans in the HeadBlade Shave-Off to demonstrate support for their Super Bowl-bound team by shaving their heads to help raise money for childhood cancer research.
Giants fans will go “under the clippers” to show solidarity to their team while raising money to benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation for children’s cancer research on Thursday, January 31 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Foley’s Pub & Restaurant located at 18 West 33rd Street. The event is free and open to the public; however donations are readily accepted.
Those interested in contributing can register online at www.stbaldricks.org, where friends and family members can also pledge donation sponsorships in the head shaver’s name; walk-ins are also welcomed to participate in the HeadBlade Shave-Off.
Foley’s Pub & Restaurant will reward all head shavers by granting them vouchers worth 10% of each participant’s total sponsorship to be used at the establishment’s “Super Beer Party” on Sunday, February 3, 2008.
People who support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation find that shaving their head in solidarity with the 160,000 children who are diagnosed with cancer each year is a small sacrifice in comparison to what these children endure, and want to raise money to help find a cure for children with cancer now and in the future.
About the St. Baldrick's Foundation
The mission of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation is to raise awareness and funds to cure kids’ cancer by supporting cancer research and fellowships. St. Baldrick’s began as a challenge among friends and has grown into the world’s largest fundraising event for childhood cancer. Since its inception in 2000, St. Baldrick’s has raised more than $34 million for the cause, shaved over 46,000 heads in 18 countries and 46 U.S. states! Worldwide, 160,000 kids are diagnosed with cancer each year and despite tremendous progress, cancer remains the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S. and Canada.
