EUEC's Opening Keynote by National Governors Association Chair
Publish Date : 1/18/2008 4:26:00 AM Source : Technology News Onlypunjab.com
EUEC, the USA's largest energy and environment conference, announced today that National Governors Association (NGA) Chairman Governor Tim Pawlenty will deliver the event's opening plenary on Monday, January 28 at 9 a.m. Governor of Minnesota since 2002, Pawlenty will discuss his "Securing a Clean Energy Future” initiative, which he chose to focus on during his Chairmanship of the NGA. The more than 1,600 attendees will learn about the Governor’s thoughts on bold, innovative policies for energy efficiency, clean technology, energy research and the development of alternative fuels. The 11th Annual Conference on Clean Air, Mercury, Global Warming and Renewable Energy is scheduled for January 28-30 at the Westin La Paloma Resort in Tucson, Arizona.
"It's an honor for EUEC to host Governor Pawlenty and a privilege to be able to provide his keynote to our professional colleagues and the constituents on the critical subject of energy and environment," said Dr. Prabhu Dayal, Chair of EUEC 2008. "We are eager to hear Governor Pawlenty’s efforts through the NGA to secure our energy security, economic well-being, environmental future and quality of life. We deeply appreciate this opportunity to learn about the NGA initiative and how EUEC can potentially collaborate. Directly following Governor Pawlenty, EUEC will welcome the second plenary keynote from Anthony Earley, Chairman and CEO of DTE Energy, for his vision for supplying reliable, reasonably priced electricity while also improving the environment."
"States are leading the way in crafting bold, innovative energy policies that will make us safer, more independent and better stewards of the planet, but we cannot do it alone," Pawlenty said. "Working together to change current practices, reduce current dependencies, and promote new technologies, we can secure a new, clean energy future for America.”
NGA serves as the collective voice of the nation’s governors and provides governors services ranging from representing states on Capitol Hill and before the Administration on key federal issues to developing and implementing innovative solutions to today’s most pressing public policy challenges. Over the course of next year, Governor Pawlenty's "Securing a Clean Energy Future” initiative will identify and implement approaches that: Use our energy resources better through efficiency and conservation; Promote non-petroleum based fuels such as ethanol and biodiesel; Take reasonable steps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and Accelerate research and development of advanced, clean energy technologies.
The EUEC Conference and Expo is the largest this year with 1,350 early registrations. To register for the event, or find hotels to attend this excellent networking meeting, visit www.euec.com. Special Government and Student rates are available.
