GoDaddy.com is announcing their debut into NASCAR – joining Hendrick Motorsports in a sponsorship deal. Go Daddy’s first NASCAR sponsorship teams NASCAR’s most popular driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., with the sport's number one racing team and the world’s largest domain name registrar.
Go Daddy’s No. 5 Earnhardt-designed race car will be unveiled online, tomorrow at high noon. The distinct design of the car can be seen first, exclusively at www.GoDaddy.com tomorrow – Tues., Dec. 18 at 12 p.m. EST.
The sponsorship deal makes Go Daddy the primary sponsor for the No. 5 NASCAR Nationwide Series Chevrolets for six events in 2008 featuring Earnhardt, along with Mark Martin and Ron Fellows. Go Daddy will also serve as an associate-level partner for the No. 5 cars all season.
In 2008, the No. 5 Chevrolets will be fielded full-time by JR Motorsports in partnership with Hendrick Motorsports. The two organizations officially combined NASCAR Nationwide Series operations following the conclusion of the 2007 racing schedule.
Two-time Nationwide Series champion Earnhardt will be the first driver racing the No. 5 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet. Not only is Earnhardt the first to drive the black, green and orange car, he also designed it for Go Daddy.
“I’m very proud of this car and I’m looking forward to driving it and representing GoDaddy.com in select Nationwide Series races this year,” Earnhardt said. “It’s racy and edgy. It’s a sharp-looking car and we are going to have some fun driving it this year.”
Earnhardt, Jr., is set to drive the Go Daddy Car April 5 at Texas Motor Speedway. Mark Martin, the all-time leader in Nationwide victories, is the second driver to pilot the Go Daddy No. 5 car. Canadian road racing ace Ron Fellows is the third to drive the GoDaddy.com sponsored car.
“We are excited to join Hendrick Motorsports and JR Motorsports for our first NASCAR sponsorship,” said Bob Parsons, CEO and Founder of GoDaddy.com. “It’s a natural fit. These guys are all about winning and being the best – that’s exactly what GoDaddy.com is about!”
With 72 Nationwide victories between them, Earnhardt (22 wins), Martin (47 wins) and Fellows (three road-course wins) comprise a formidable lineup for NASCAR team sponsor GoDaddy.com.
“We’re excited to welcome GoDaddy.com to our Nationwide Series effort,” said Marshall Carlson, general manager of Hendrick Motorsports. “With a driver lineup of this caliber, we have a great opportunity to take our new partner to victory lane in 2008. It’s shaping up to be an exciting season with GoDaddy.com, JR Motorsports and the No. 5 Chevrolets.”
Go Daddy’s first auto racing sponsorship was with Indy Racing’s Danica Patrick. Indy’s most popular driver became a “Go Daddy Girl” in December 2006. She appeared in last year’s Go Daddy Super Bowl commercial and will wear the Go Daddy logo again next season.
Go Daddy is a world leading Internet company that helps individuals and businesses build their online presence.
