The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) and BIO Ventures for Global Health (BVGH) are pleased to announce that Anthony Fauci, MD, of NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases will be delivering a roundtable on global health from bench to bedside, and Cheryl Scott of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will be delivering a fireside chat on global health issues at the Partnering for Global Health Forum, co-sponsored by the Gates Foundation.

“We’re bringing leaders in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries together with pioneers in global health to create a new paradigm for developing medicines that will save lives around the world,” said Jim Greenwood, president and CEO of BIO.

Additional conference speakers include Joshua Boger, PhD, founder, president and CEO of Vertex Pharmaceuticals; Joerg Reinhardt, PhD, CEO of Vaccines and Diagnostics at Novartis Pharmaceuticals; Henri Termeer, president and CEO of Genzyme Corporation; Chris Hentschel, PhD, president and CEO of the Medicines for Malaria Venture; and Gary M. Cohen, president of BD Medical, BD. More speaker information can be found at www.pghforum.org.

Attendees will address the pressing needs for innovation and explore new avenues for progress through sessions focusing on market incentives, innovative business models, and partnerships between the public and private sectors.

“This meeting offers attendees the opportunity to share ideas on how best to develop and disseminate medicines to patients in the developing world, and how we can work together as an industry to accelerate the process,” said BVGH President and CEO Dr. Christopher D. Earl.

The Forum will feature an open exchange with world-renowned leaders in global health, industry, government and the donor community; opportunities to meet one-on-one with leading companies, researchers, donors and investors; presentations from innovators pursuing technologies and products applicable to diseases of the developing world; and perspectives from public and private funders supporting global health R&D.
